Field/ FigurativeModelling

we made a head with the picking technique, taught by Claire Caureen. we had to take small pieces of clay and pick them onto the next to make up the basic structure of the head and then create small gestures as to where the features are, i purposely left the eyes very blank and as i wanted to create  head with no connection to anyone and leave it quite blank. i then added slip onto it to add another element onto it, i drew into the slip to bring in more of the figurative into the structure, overall i found working with the pinch technique quite hard after a while, as i found it was quite repetitive and the clay was very soft so the structure kept caving in and breaking. i would use this technique again much on a smaller scale and with firmer scale.
